The Program

 

We are a full-year soccer program. That includes a spring and fall EDP league schedule. It also includes tournaments during the spring, summer, and fall. We move indoors for practices during the winter.


Archers have prioritized attending college showcases and high-level tournaments across six states. We are looking to expand their footprint further and challenge the region's best teams.


Priority for the coaching staff has been and will continue to be development of the kids as both players

and individuals. We have been fortunate enough to be supported in this goal by a fantastic group of parents. The community feel across parents, players, and coaches have led to a truly unique atmosphere

at this club.


Parents are viewed as partners in the process. Tournaments are discussed as a group, recommendations

are made by the coaching staff, and then finalized though interactions with the parents. The final schedule is determined for the spring, summer, and full tournaments.

Coaches

The 2010 Archers are coached by Rob Ranieri and Austin Miller. Together these two coaches have over 50 years of playing and coaching experience in soccer at some of the highest levels. That playing experience includes 5 countries and at least 12 states. Coach Rob has also served on the Maryland Olympic Development Program goalkeeping coaching staff and has been a counselor at MSYSA camps. 


The Archers are also trained by members of the coaching staff of the professional Baltimore Blast and Bascome Academy one day a week (including head coach Bascome himself). That allows our players to have professional-level coaching and development. We are one of the few coaching staffs with a goalkeeper coach as part of our staff. Our coaching staff is committed to the six principles of AFC Soccer: dedication, sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, commitment, and fun.

Archers History

The AFC Archers are a recent arrival to travel soccer. 2022 was our first year as a travel program. In our first full season, we finished one point out of second place in our CMSA league. The Archers takes our name from Churchville's history. Churchville is an unincorporated community within Hartford County. Because Churchville links Bel Air and Aberdeen (indirectly, the only other incorporated town in Harford County, Havre de Grace), Churchville was known as Lower Cross Roads in colonial times. Churchville was also the home of a prominent family, the Archers. Their home, Medical Hall, still stands in Churchville today.  In July 2023, the Archers moved from Churchville to Abingdon Football Club.  We decided to keep the name Archers as a reminder of where and when our journey started and realize how far we have come.  The move places the Archers in a better position to grow and be competitive.  We have teamed up with Bascome Enterprises, and coaches from the Baltimore Blast will be training the club once per week.  The collaboration should allow the Archers to flourish in the coming years.

Technology We Use

Archers will be using Veo video technology in 2023. This technology will include analytics for every player. We aim to develop each player and provide the right platform to leverage their ability into a scholarship for college or beyond. Veo technology allows us to track and analyze every player on the pitch. Veo provides match facts instantly and will enable us to dive deeper into every player's performance. Pro soccer clubs around the world use Veo systems.

    Interested in Joining

    We are always looking for players with a passion for soccer. Official tryouts are generally held in May; we invite players to practice and occasionally play with us year-round. If you were born in 2010 or later and are interested in travel soccer, please get in touch with us. We are always willing to answer any questions about the team, the coaches, or the program. We would love to have you come to watch or participate in some practices and games at any point in the year.
